Important statement (22nd April) from the RC Bishops of England and Wales concerning sexual abuse and the failings of clergy, bishops and the leadership of the church for nearly the whole of the 20th Century. Clifton Diocese was a pioneer in addressing this issue properly but not until the middle 1990's, but then made a major contribution to the development of good practice, procedures and policies to protect children and deal with allegations of malpractice, unsafe behaviour, abuse and the management of offenders. See Diocesan website: www.cliftondiocese.com for full statement (also due to be read out at masses this weekend)and information on the Clifton Office for the Protection of Children and Volnerable Adults.

ANNOUNCEMENT and APPEAL: The synthesizer ("organ") that is used at Holy Ghost is nearing the end of it's useful life being "old technology" and not suitable for visiting organists. We need a new one and after much deliberation we have settled on a small but much better organ and synthesizer. The trouble is that it costs more than we have in the parish funds. We need to raise money with donations and money raising schemes (at least £1500.00 and more if possible so as not to clear out the coffers!). If you would like to contribute monies or are prepared to help raise money please contact Terence via: holyhugh@btinternet.com If you want to hear about the new organ please speak to Paul our flautist at the 11.00 o/c mass on Sunday's.
We give thanks for the life of Bishop Mervyn Alexander, former Bishop of Clifton to 2001. Bishop Mervyn died on the 14th August 2010 . Photographs of the Funeral Mass and tributes can be found on the Diocesan website: www.cliftondiocese.com
